Currencies

First of all, none of the countries has euro yet. Slovakia and Slovenia will be the first ones who convert to euro and drop their national currency, around 2009-2010. But euro is widely acceptable in shops and malls, but the exchange rate is high and your change back in local currencies. DO NOT CHANGE MONEY IN STREETS EVEN IF THEY OFFER A BETTER RATE! Use only authorized exchange shops, mostly these are comission free, or use banks even if they offer lower rates. You also can use any ATM cash machine in the streets, they accept VISA, EUROCARD/MASTERCARD, DINERS CLUB, AMEX, etc. cards. ATMs give you local money, and sometimes even better rates than exchange shops. You also can use your card for shopping, it is also comission free. When you are paying with savings, debit or credit card, NEVER let it taken away, keep a close look on your card, maybe put a max. Spending limit on that by your bank.
