Roznava

Roznava is an ancient time famous for its tradition located in eastern slovakia, close to the hungarian border. The town situated in the valley of river Slana, among the hills of the Slovak Ore Mountains and the lateaus of the National Park Slovak Karst. Roznava has 20000 inhabitants which makes this small town a really nice place to visit and stay as it is a good starting point if you are planning bike tours around.
The town itself offers several sightseeing points, like it has the biggest Town Square in slovakia. The Renaissance watchtowerwhich built in 1654 in the centre of the square became a symbol of roznava. Tourist information centre can be found in the histroical Town Hall. In the Cathedral of The Assumption of Virgin Mary from 1304 you can admire the rich baroque interior and a valuable painting from 1513.
The Mining Museum is presenting the famous mining history of Roznava and the whole county Gemer. You also can find an exhibition of Nature of the Slovak Karst.
