
Budapest Keleti station (often abbreviated Budapest Keleti pu), Hungarian for Budapest-East railway station is the largest among the three main railway stations (together with Nyugati pályaudvar and Déli pályaudvar) in Budapest. It can be found in the 8th district (Józsefváros), on Baross Square.
The fact that the majority of Intercity services (36 out of 53) arrive at this railway station makes this decision more probable. Also, recently, almost all international trains serving Budapest call at Keleti station. There is good metro connection (red M2) to city center and the other train station (direct access to Deli station, which is the end of the metro line, 1exchange at Deak Ferenc square to reach Nyugati station).

International Ticketing office is on the left side as you stand in the main hall with the main entrance at your back.
Metro line
To reach Red M2 Metro line you have to go out the station, turn left and go underground on the steps. There are couple of places to buy tickets, daily passes. Do not enter without validated tickets, as there are many conductors! Daily passes do not need validation but keep with you all the time.
Eating, Drinking, Shopping at Keleti station
There are several kiosks, but the food choice is limited to pizza, hamburger combination. There are several type of sandwitches, drinks as well for a high price. If you go out the station, on the right hand side there are a McDonalds and Burger King. If you take a short walk on the side of the Keleti (right hand side) there is a Spar supermarket with nice prices, and KFC as well.
